Biography
Anna Samoc is a graduate of Technical University of Wroclaw, Poland.
She held positions at the Technical University of Wroclaw (1977 - 1991), State University of New York at Buffalo (1988 - 1989), Dartmouth College, NH (1987 - 1988) before her appointment at the Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering The Australian National University as Research Fellow (1992 - 1997), Fellow (1997 - 2008), Visiting Fellow (since 2008).
Research interests
Development, modification, processing and characterization of linear and nonlinear optical properties of organic optical materials to better understand a relationship between the material structure and optical effects useful for photonics and bioelectronics. Fabrication and testing of polymer films and optical fibres for waveguiding of laser light and generation of nonlinear phenomena, DNA nano-composites for induced chirality and negative refractive index, nonlinear optical materials for structure related second-order and third-order nonlinear optical effects, molecular crystals for electrical and photo-conductivity.
