His postgraduate studies were undertaken at the University of Manchester, UK. AJ completed in Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics in 2012. The experiments for his thesis work, titled "Investigating high-j single-particle energies in Z=51 nuclei", were conducted at Yale University, USA. He was employed as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Adjunct Teaching Faculty at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, USA from 2012-2014. In 2015, he joined the Nuclear Structure group at the Australian National University as a Postdoctoral Fellow. He is currently a Research Fellow investigating the structure of nuclei with extreme neutron:proton ratios with beams of radioactive nuclei.
