Quantum information science is expected to need a large, interdisciplinary workforce, but we have few good ways to measure whether courses actually build conceptual understanding. The Quantum Information Science Concept Inventory Test (QISCIT) is a promising new 31-item inventory covering quantum states, measurement, qubits, entanglement, decoherence, gates and communication. The test is well-refined, but to date has not been evaluated on students. 

This project aims to validate/invalidate QISCIT experimentally. Key tasks include delivering the test to students and then using item response theory to establish the validity and reliability of the test.

Required background

Completed previous study in quantum mechanics and quantum computing at an introductory level is required. 

Introductory knowledge of statistics, Python and/or R would be desireable.
