David McClelland and Susan Scott will participate in a panel discussion at an event organised by the Italian Embassy on the evening of 16 August. The event is held at Physics Auditorium and is focused on funding Einstein Telescope – a proposed third-generation ground-based gravitational wave detector, currently under study by some institutions in the European Union – and Italy's proposed location of Sardinia, Italy. As part of this event, Susan Scott will give a public lecture on the theory of general relativity, gravitational waves and the significance of larger and more sensitive gravitational wave detectors.
