Do you know someone who deserves to be nominated for a Director's award for outstanding service to the school?

The Director's awards acknowledge the service of individual staff members and/or teams above and beyond the normal requirements of their position.

All members of the Physics community are eligible to be nominated for the awards including staff, students and visiting fellows.

The Director encourages all members of the School to discuss nominations with their heads of department and managers.

Purpose

At Physics we believe the success of our School is due to the sum of the skills, energy and efforts of our people. The Director's awards acknowledge the service of individual staff members and/or teams above and beyond the normal requirements of their position. This contribution to the School is highly valued and these Awards recognise some of the contributions that have led to the success of the School.

Eligibility

The Director's Awards will be presented to those members of the Physics community that have provided outstanding contribution to the School. The Awards recognise voluntary and sustained contribution, over and above what might reasonably be expected in the normal requirements of their position.

All members of the Physics community are eligible to be nominated for the awards including staff, students and visiting fellows. Recipients will have volunteered their time, expertise, skills and knowledge to the School above and beyond the normal requirements of their position. Recipients will have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to the School over a sustained period. These contributions include excellence in service, excellence in innovation, leadership and efforts that enhance the general life and welfare of the School.

Nomination process

The Director encourages all members of the School to discuss nominations with their Heads of Department and Managers. Nominations should include a citation and one paragraph supporting statement (no more than 200 words). Nominations should be submitted to the School Manager by email to sm.physics@anu.edu.au by 5pm on the due date.

2023 Nominations are due by COB 8th December.

Award Process

Nominations will be considered by the Director, Research School of Physics who may form a selection committee. Awardees will receive a gift of recognition. Up to five individuals and/or teams will be presented with this annual honour on Physics Founder's Day or an alternate as advised.
