Safe return of teaching and learning to campus - message from DVC(A)

Dear colleagues

I trust you are keeping well.  The purpose of this email is to provide an update on our planning for a safe return of teaching and learning to campus.

Consistent with the University-wide approach outlined by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and University Experience) Professor Ian Anderson last week, our goal is to have an ordered return of teaching and learning to campus, prioritising health and safety.  In order to do this, we have developed a framework that is available for your information here.

We are focussing on getting back to a regular schedule for Semester 2 with teaching starting on Monday 27 July.  Other dates will remain the same as scheduled on the university calendar.

During Semester 2, the Acton campus will be open with restrictions (Level A) and teaching activities will be conducted in a hybrid model to engage and support students studying both remotely and on campus.  Courses will continue to be available to students studying remotely. Teaching activities held on campus will be in line with social distancing and other health protocols as set out by the Australian Government.

If you have any questions, please contact your school manager or associate dean education.

From Tuesday 2 June 2020, the campus will be partially open (Level B).  That means research focussed students will be able to return to do their work on campus when notified by their college or school.  In addition, some coursework students will be able to return to campus to conduct laboratory, fieldwork or studio activities that have not been conducted while we have been working remotely.  Colleges and schools will notify students if and when it is possible to safely participate in these activities on campus.

My sincere thanks to the University community for the careful planning they are undertaking that will ensure we have a safe return of teaching and learning to campus. Most importantly, thank you to all staff for your incredible work and support for our students.

Grady
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)
