Email Archive Policy Change

In late December ITS applied a 2 year archive policy to all ANU email accounts.

All emails older than 2 years are being automatically moved to an online archive rather than remain in your primary mailbox. The purpose of archiving is to improve mailbox performance and lower the chance of synchronisation issues.

This archive is accessible as “Online Archive” in Outlook and “Personal Archive” when logged into webmail.

Unfortunately, when using an IMAP client such as Thunderbird you are not able to see the archive folder. The workarounds for this are to log into webmail when you need to find an email from more than two years ago, or switch to using Outlook as your email client.

While ITS strongly encourages using the archive policy, if you wish to have all your archived emails copied back to your primary mailbox, please send an email to it.physics@anu.edu.au and we will get ITS to disable the policy for your account and migrate the archived emails back.
