R&D opportunity with Japanese optical manufacturer

A Japanese optical manufacturer is looking for cutting-edge optoelectronic* research and/or technology to be used to develop the company’s future business line-up. This opportunity is open to universities, research institutes and startups.

*The company defines a light wave as ranging from 1nm to 1mm (e.g soft x-ray, ultraviolet light, visible light and terahertz wave).

The company is taking a blue sky approach to harnessing new optoelectronic technologies that can deliver a social impact for a range of applications from growing food, detecting blood glucose levels, measuring brain activity, and to digital imaging to identify the presence of microplastics.

The company has highlighted the following areas of interest:

Creating next generation OLED and lasersOptical technology for sensing and recognition to be used in lighting systems for cars, optical biosensors and food safety/quality detectionUtilising light for Li-F (Light Fidelity), 3D displays and optical scanning devicesUtilising luminous energy for optical power generation, high-performance photocatalyst, optical microfabrication and cultivating/growing plants foodsNext generation light projection technology to elicit a range of emotions in people

To submit a proposal(s), please provide the following:

A 100-word introduction to your organisation’s proof points in optoelectronic research and/or technologyUp to five proposals (200 words each) that respond to the above areas of interest.
