EoI - Associate Director (Infrastructure)

This is a significant leadership role in the School, being the academic representative on all matters around the advancement of our culture of technical excellence.  The role provides an academic experience on topics in which School facilities necessarily interact in the running of National Facilities, technical workshops and the allocation of space.

The AD(I) will work together with Workshop Managers and technical officers to establish a detailed understanding of how our technical skills and capabilities meet our needs and map across campus. As part of the School Executive, the AD(I) joins the Heads of Department in determining resourcing and strategic direction. This is a crucial role within the School and the successful applicant will be responsible for growing the impact of our technical capabilities and the promotion our world-class infrastructure.

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated experience with operating experimental facilities. Research active with a well-developed track record, commensurate with opportunity. Demonstrated ability to work productively with broad groups of staff, and in particular technical officers. Demonstrated understanding of the staffing and equipment needs in technical workshops and research facilities. Demonstrated understanding of how undergraduate programs or HDR students use research infrastructure and facilities at the ANU. Demonstrated capacity in contributing to committees. Demonstrated commitment to WHS. Highly developed oral and written communication skills. A demonstrated understanding of equal opportunity principles and policies and a commitment to their application in a university context.

Position Details:

Term: 3 years, with possibility for extension (CCF and Fixed Term applicants would be in line with their current appointment term, initially to a maximum of 3 years)

Benefits: The position attracts a responsibility loading.
