Congratulations to Xi-Wen Guan, a member of Department Theoretical Physics received “2017-2018 Breakthrough Research Award” from Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Science.

The citation of the award is the outstanding team research on “Quantum liquid and quantum criticality in ultracold atoms”. The major research includes his collaborative work on the observation of quantum scaling laws and Luttinger liquid through the 1D interacting Bose gas of ultracold atoms.

This paper was elected as the Editor’s suggestion and the Viewpoint on the importance of this work is given by professor Thierry Giamarchi (https://physics.aps.org/articles/v10/115). The European Physical Society Physicsworld publishes a highlight on this paper “Atoms and Josephson junctions simulate 1D quantum liquid”.
