The New Supervisor Program
Friday 17 August, 9am–4.30pm
Designed for: Professional supervisors who are new to their leadership role.

This workshop is designed to assist new supervisors transition from the role of specialist to leader. The workshop will provide foundational knowledge and skills that will draw on best-practice and practical examples to understand leading and managing teams and achieving business outcomes.

Managing Staff Grievances
Tuesday 30 August, 10am–12.30pm
Designed for: Professional (Level 5 and above) and Academic (level B and above) staff in a supervisory or managerial role.

Facilitated by a senior member of the HR Division, this small group workshop will include presentation, a Q&A session and case studies. It will provide participants with access to the fundamentals and insights to manage staff complaints, grievances and disputes, whilst ensuring compliance with the ANU Enterprise Agreement and ANU policy framework.

All participants should have completed the Pulse online mandatory on boarding modules and The New Supervisor Program prior to attendance.

Managing Very Difficult Workplace Behaviour – Day One
Tuesday 11 September, 9.30am–4.30pm
Designed for: Professional (level 8 and above) and Academic (level D and above) staff in a supervisory or managerial role.

Day one of this series will provide participants with an opportunity to review the impact and common characteristics of very difficult workplace behaviour, describe and prepare strategies for managing different types of behaviour, and discuss the common internal and personal challenges that difficult behaviour creates for the supervisor and the organisation as a whole – identifying general and HR management strategies for guidance and support.

Managing Very Difficult Workplace Behaviour – Day Two
Tuesday 16 October, 9.30am–4.30pm
Designed for: Professional (level 8 and above) and Academic (level D and above) staff in a supervisory or managerial role.

Day two of this series will review the topics covered in day one, case examples, and developing detailed management strategies. There will be discussion on the organisational context/psycho-social system, risk and protective factors for very difficult workplace behaviours and how it is managed tolerated, allowed or ignored, and Industrial Relations and Human Resource requirements and their application as enablers or constraints.

LGBTIQ Ally Training
Wednesday 19 August, 9.30am–12.30pm &
Tuesday 30 October, 9.30am–12.30pm
Designed for: All Professional and Academic ANU staff.

This half day program will provide participants with knowledge and skills to create an inclusive culture for all LGBTIQ staff and students and be an effective Ally within the ANU community.

Ally Training provides participants with an overall understanding of why LGBTIQ inclusion is important to an organisation and explores challenges often faced by people who identify as LGBTIQ and the impact that harassment and discrimination can have in the workplace.

Mental Health First Aid

Thursday 16 – Friday 17 August, 9am–3.30pm,
Thursday 6 – Friday 7 September, 9am–3.30pm &
Thursday 20 – Friday 21 September, 9am–3.30pm
Designed for: All Professional and Academic ANU staff.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help given to someone developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. First aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.

Participants attending this two day workshop will learn the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, where and how to get help and the help that has proven to be effective.
