The University is committed to providing a safe campus for everyone to work and study.
To effectively manage the potential risk of exposure to asbestos on campus, the University has implemented a number of risk management programs including the removal of asbestos materials and the deployment of asbestos awareness training. Specifically, we have developed two on-line modules to help raise awareness of asbestos related risks, and identify and report asbestos materials in situ so that hazards continue to be controlled appropriately.
The online modules are now available in Pulse and may be completed by all staff and students, and I encourage everyone to participate.
Whilst completion of these modules is generally voluntary, however selected staff will be required to complete this training by 1 June 2018; including WHS Committees, building custodians and staff from the Facilities and Services Division with responsibilities for planning and carrying out works. These staff, will shortly be invited to complete the on line modules, which takes approximately 30 minutes.
The completion of the modules will address a related regulatory notice and contribute to achieving a University wide KPI related to mandatory training for 2018.
As always, I thank you very much for your ongoing support of the work health and safety programs.
