Held 12-13 August at the Kingston bus depot markets. An amazing experience as at least 4,000 school students and members of the public attended. RSPE had two stands, featuring the Michelson Interferometer and a ripple tank to link into the discovery of Gravitational Waves, and 80 Edison Robots roaming the lower levels of the building. Interest was at a very high level and it’s clear that Primary Schools in particular are embracing the STEM subjects; including coding and programming. ANU had at least 40 staff and students working on the displays. Other notable areas from ANU were the Malaria Group, Translational Photosynthesis, Energy Biology, NYSF and Australian Science Innovations. Susan Scott also gave presentations at the opening ceremony and on the Saturday; but it’s difficult to compete with exploding Teddy Bears! Special thanks to Aqeel, Georgia, Jarrod, Tim, Ruvi, Mitchell, Paul and Neil. As always the Daleks provided security and the threat of extermination helps to keep order! Andrew Papworth
