Synthetic Biology Initiative (SBI) at ANU

Published in the Research School of Physics Event Horizon
Vol47 Issue36 12–16 September 2022

The objective is to strengthen SynBio research at ANU by bringing together a new group across diverse research disciplines (humanities, engineering, biology, physics, medicine, chemistry) to create a research network that breaks down these traditional boundaries. Any research that could help us utilize or harness biology or biological molecules for new applications is of interest.

It will also increase the profile of ANU in SynBio and build greater links to industry, government and collaborating institutions in Australia and internationally.

But how do we design and focus this SynBio initiative to get you interested?

What do we need to get right and what are some of the pitfalls we need to avoid?

Come and hear what we are proposing and help shape what we do.

Over lunch, we will outline our current thinking and get your feedback on what you believe we should and shouldn’t do.

This workshop will be completed by 2pm and to indicate your interest in attending, will you please email our Project Leader, Graham Smith (grahamsmith606@gmail.com).
