New to HORUS - Leave Management - Changing & Cancelling Leave

As we have moved to working from home we are aware that staff members and supervisors need a more flexible and adaptable approach to directly managing leave.

We are pleased to announce the release of new functionality enabling staff to change and cancel booked approved leave from within HORUS.

This will mean that staff and supervisors will now no longer need to go back through their HR teams to have leave changed or cancelled.

This change has been designed to reduce the time, duplication and labour intensive processing required by staff, supervisors and administrators when a leave request entered via HORUS needs to be changed or cancelled based on changes in an individual’s needs and/or circumstances.

The enhanced functionality within HORUS is as follows:

  1. All leave can be accessed via the <Absences and Timesheets> tile within HORUS. The cancelling of leave applies to two categories of submitted leave, both of which are addressed below:
    • Leave that has been submitted but not approved. Simply select the application and from the options available select cancel and submit. No further action is required.
    • Leave that has been approved and not yet processed, future applications. Select the application and choose cancel. Once submitted this will trigger a notification to the staff member’s supervisor for approval. Supervisors can approve or otherwise the request from the <Approvals> tile within HORUS.

User Guides for both staff and supervisor are available online and can be accessed by clicking on the following links:

The above changes have been implemented from feedback across the university and will contribute towards minimising the administrative burden and long lead times experienced when cancelling and changing leave dates.
