The 2017 training catalogue shows both the offerings and when best for candidates to engage with each of the activities to get the most benefit: https://services.anu.edu.au/files/business-unit/2017%20RST%20Calendar%20only.pdf

There will be a welcome lunch for all new HDR candidates, featuring our VC Brian Schmidt, at University house on 13 February. This is a great chance for your candidates to meet people from all over the university in an informal setting and learn about opportunities to connect with the broader research community https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/official-welcome-to-the-research-community-for-higher-degree-research-students-february-2017-tickets-31079346161

HDR candidates who are close to completion may want to apply for a place on the first Thesis Bootcamp for the year, which is running at the end of this month. Some students have been known to write up to 20,000 words in a single weekend at bootcamp. It's a great way to jump start a candidate who is in the process of getting that first draft together. Applications are open here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SBRH7WW

We encourage all candidates to make the most of these opportunities.
