Development of 2 micron fiber lasers at IITM and other LIGO related activities at IITM

Dr Deepa Venkitesh
Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras

Fiber lasers operating at 2 micron wavelengths have diverse applications in the field of biomedical systems, communication and in gravitational wave observations. This talk will detail the different development activities at 2 micron fiber lasers that include - a continuously tunable fiber laser between 1960-2040 nm, high power laser with a peak power of > 3 W and a passively mode locked laser with pulse widths < 100 ps. We will also describe the other LIGO related activities in our institute.
