National Graduate Innovation Forum -
application deadline extended (applications close 5 July 2021) (Read the ANSTO News article here)

Due to ongoing interest in this program, the NGIF committee have extended the deadline to 5th July to allow additional PhD students to submit their applications.

The first National Graduate Innovation Forum will connect PhD students with industry representatives to apply scientific thinking to today’s real-world industry challenges. 

Science and Engineering PhD Students from all Australian universities are invited to join. The virtual forum will commence on 12th July 2021 and culminate in a final event on 10th November 2021

The Graduate Innovation Forum has been developed by ANSTO, the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering (AINSE) and the Australian Council of Deans of Science (ACDS).

Interested students are required to complete their application form and provide their resume by 5th July 2021.

The projects will be undertaken remotely with students accessing their university's facilities (when needed) and working with business mentors from ANSTO, AINSE and ACDS. Each project will have approximately eight students working together on one of four industry challenges.

SAAFE Research Internship Program -
applications are open (applications close 15 September 2021)

AINSE, in partnership with ANSTO and the Embassy of France in Australia, are delighted to announce that applications for the 2022 SAAFE Program are now open, in anticipation of the resumption of international travel in 2022.

The Scholarship AINSE ANSTO French Embassy (SAAFE) Program is an exciting international exchange opportunity open to Early Career Researchers at the PhD and postdoctoral level. Up to $7,500 AUD is provided to each successful applicant towards supporting travel and/or accommodation expenses in Australia or France. 

The SAAFE Program supports Early Career Researchers to expand research and innovation activities with Human Health, Environment and the Nuclear Fuel Cycle, and to initiate sustainable research networks and linkages to support Australia and France in research and innovation.

Eligible applicants must be a PhD student in, or hold a postdoctoral appointment at, a French university or Australian AINSE-member university, OR be enrolled in a PhD in collaboration between French and Australian institutions.

The research internship is required to start within a 6 month period after international borders open in 2022.

AINSE Early Career Researcher Grants (ECRG) -
applications are open (applications close 31 July 2021)

The Early Career Researcher Grant (ECRG) is offered by AINSE Limited (the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering) to suitably-qualified persons holding a postdoctoral position at an AINSE Member Institution and/or Organisation and wishing to undertake work in collaboration with ANSTO. Applications will be received up to 11:59pm AEST 31st July 2021.

The AINSE ECRG is a one-time payment offered to scholars who are in the first five years of employment as an Early Career Researcher, with allowances made for career breaks of a reasonable time frame. The recipient must be listed on an approved proposal to commence work at an ANSTO facility between 1st October 2021 and 31st December 2022.

The award provides a grant of A$10,000 excl. GST that can be spent on travel, accommodation, publication fees, and laboratory consumables relating to the recipient’s approved ANSTO proposal, in addition to carer requirements, including costs relating to childcare, respite, and support of dependents, subject to AINSE discretion.
