The Dean HDR is able to provide a letter of support, however the following information is required from the school / supervisor (via email to odhdr@anu.edu.au);

· Name and UID of the candidate;
· Details of the research topic;
· Why the research is of national importance;
· Why the candidates role is essential.

In addition, the application requires the candidate to provide a letter of support from a Government Agency – this can be from the ARC for example. To obtain a letter from the ARC please contact your local Research Management Team to seek their assistance to contact ARC on your behalf.  For other Government Agencies you can either contact them directly, or ask your RM team to assist.

Once the candidate has both letters they can apply for a travel exemption directly with the Department of Home Affairs.
