Secrets of planning a successful PhD or MPhil

How do you go about successfully managing a large research project from start to finish over a number of years? This ANU Academic Skills and Learning Centre led workshop is ideal for research students at the start of their program and those further into their studies are welcome to attend. The workshop covers the following topic areas:

• Project management – learn about tools and strategies to prioritise, set goals and make the most of the time you have.
• Managing your relationship with your supervisor – choose and negotiate your project with your supervisor while maintaining a productive relationship.
• Reading and research strategies – use efficient reading strategies to extract the information that you need and ensuring breadth and depth of research.
• Thesis proposal reviews – find out what makes a successful thesis proposal for your upcoming Thesis Proposal Review.

First year RSPE MPhil and PhD students or beyond are strongly encouraged to attend this workshop and individual invitations will be sent out early next week. Supervisors are also welcome to attend.
