Unique Student Identifiers (USI) - HDR Students

From 1 January 2023, all higher education students, including those who commenced prior to 2023, must have a USI to:

• be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP); and/or 
• utilise Commonwealth financial assistance (HECS-HELP, FEE-HELP, OS-HELP and SA-HELP); and/or
• to graduate and receive their award
  Offshore international students do not require a USI if they completed all their study outside of Australia.

Any HDR students who have been contacted about the need to input a USI by census date (31 March for First Semester) have been identified as being eligible to defer fees (such as the Student Services and Amenities Fee or SSAF) using the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP).
