IWD 2023 Science In The Pub - Call For Presenters

Published in the Research School of Physics Event Horizon
Vol48 Issue6 13–17 February 2023

It’s a highlight of our calendar, when diverse voices in science take the stage for International Women’s Day. Feminine-presenting folk from any scientific area are invited to have 8 minutes in the spotlight to talk, sing, rap, dance - present in any way not only their research but also their experiences as women* in science.

In the past we’ve had quizzes, plays, demonstrations, cartoons and songs, as well as amazing talks. What creative outlet will you harness to communicate your topic?

If you’re interested, please email philuponscience@gmail.com with your ideas.

We’ve all seen charismatic presenters that seem just intrinsically fascinating. Even on dry subjects the audience seem to be in the palm of their hand. This workshop will give you the tools to impress a crowd and leave a lasting positive impression.

Working through practical exercises you will learn to project yourself and your content dynamically. You’ll find out how to develop stage presence, add drama to your story and use your voice and body to connect with the audience.

During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to receive detailed and personalised feedback on your presentations.

Includes pre-work/homework to get the brain working before the session.

We’ll cover

Who is it for?
