College of Science HR

In the College we [HR] act as HR business partners, supporting the full employment life cycle, from role design and appointment to essation/termination. We work very closely with staff in the School to facilitate recruitment (advertised/non-advertised), role design and planning, induction, support for employment entitlements and conditions, cessation of employment, and reporting to senior management and supervisors. We develop and implement HR strategies across the College such as initiatives to improve wellbeing, diversity and performance.

We provide case management support for employee relations matters such as performance, conduct, and ill health, supporting supervisors to navigate ANU policy and employment legislation.

Recruitment Support (end of year): December & January are busy months for the College HR team. The increased workload requires the team to prioritise all requests, with payroll and associated activities being of the highest importance. As a result, selection committee support, including scheduling of interviews required after 1 December 2022 may not be possible. We recommend all interviews be undertaken prior to this date, allowing time for your College HR team to review and finalise selection committee reports, seek approvals and to prepare and send the offer before the shutdown period commences. Requests to schedule interviews recieved in December will need to be undertaken by the chair or a member of their team. If you foresee any issues with this timeline please discuss immediately with your College HR team.

College Research Management

The College Research Office (CRO) provides administrative support to researchers throughout the grant lifecycle:

  • Pre-award: proposal development, delegate approvals, submission to funder, research data records
  • Acceptance: start up meetings, review contract agreements, open ANU accounts and records
  • Post-award: variation/change requests, reporting
  • General Support: research systems support, major funding scheme sessions, policy interpretation, application/portfolio strategy
