Professor Wojciech Lipinski will explain new ways of creating carbon-neutral fuels for rockets and jets using solar energy.
This includes making hydrogen from renewables, as well as other sustainable fuels.

Our speakers
Prof. Lipinski, a member of the Energy Change Institute, is Leader of the ANU Solar Thermal Group in the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences.
Dr Philbrook works in business development at the Australian Renewable Energy Agency. She is a chemical engineer with a PhD in chemistry and has experience in academia, industry and government. Her current focus is identifying and developing opportunities in the renewable hydrogen and bioenergy sectors. Her expertise in alternative fuels stems from her time at the Australian National University as the Principle Investigator of the Biofuels Research Cluster in the CSIRO’s Energy Transformed Flagship. Amy currently sits on the Queensland Government’s Biofutures Industry Reference group and is a Board Director at Bioenergy Australia.
Dr Agata Jozwicka-Perlant is the Head of New Customers & Services in the group of Future Programmes at ArianeGroup. She joined the company in 2015 and is responsible for development of the international business and cooperation in civil launchers domain. Before that, she was the Chief Executive Officer of Astri Polska (daughter company of Airbus Defence & Space and Space Research Centre at the Polish Academy of Sciences) from 2011 to 2015, and as R&T (Research and Technology) Director from the day of creation of the company in 2010. Her key task was to position Astri Polska on the space market. Moreover, she advised the Polish Government in structuring the Polish Space Programme in the years when Poland was entering the European Space Agency (ESA). Earlier, Dr. Jozwicka-Perlant worked as industry analyst with technical insights group Frost&Sullivan International, advising clients in technology solutions, business models and strategic partnerships. From 2001-2008 she worked at Warsaw University of Technology as a researcher in optical measurement systems.
Bruno Goirand works in ArianeGroup's Liquid Propulsion cluster as Project/Product Manager in the field of new business and Hydrogen. He has more than 30 years' experience and began as a cryogenic turbomachinery specialist, firstly in the frame of Ariane 5 hydrogen/oxygen propulsion development and secondly as product manager in charge of Vinci engine turbopumps that will fly at the upper stage of the new European launcher, Ariane 6. He also has extensive experience in the preparation and management of space propulsion future programs.
Dr Cyrille Schwob is Head of Technology, Asia Pacific, with Airbus in Singapore. He is responsible for developing and synchronizing R&T (Research and Technology) and innovations activities for Airbus in the Asia Pacific region. Cyrille started his career in Airbus more than ten years ago, as a research engineer in the field of composite modeling where he was in charge of developing novel methods of numerical simulations for composites structures. In 2007 he moved to China where he worked successively for Tsinghua University on reliability of structural components and for Airbus Beijing Engineering Centre (China) on damage tolerance methods. In 2009 he returned to Airbus Group in Toulouse where he led projects on composite structures analysis and testing. In 2010 he moved to Malaysia where he has been in charge of leading Airbus Group R&T activities in the country and as such appointed as AMIC Chief Technical Officer. He moved to Singapore in 2015 where he now develops Airbus R&T activities in the Asia Pacific region.
Thomas Pfister is Head of Airbus Defence and Space, Australasia. He has held a range of positions in the Space and Defence part of Airbus since joining the company in 2006. Initially in charge of Earth Observation services (mapping, industrial applications, GIS, remote sensing imagery/production) over Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific, he then relocated to Singapore in 2011 to boost the Earth Observation ground receiving infrastructures business across the Asia Pacific. In 2015, he was appointed the region's Telecommunications Satellites Sales Director. In 2016 Thomas led Airbus Defence and Space for Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia covering Airbus Space, Services and Military Aircrafts activities. In November 2018, Thomas joined the Airbus Defence and Space Australasia team to first support the development of Space and New Businesses in Australia and New Zealand before being appointed as the Head of the Division for the Pacific region. Thomas graduated from SKEMA Business School in Sophia Antipolis, France.
