Reduce ANU contributions to climate change

Currently ANU directly and indirectly contributes to the emission of significant quantities of greenhouse gases (GHGs), contributing to one of the greatest challenges the world has ever faced: climate change.  The ANU Below Zero initiative aims to transition the University from being part of the problem to becoming part of the solution – from a source of GHGs to a net absorber of GHGs.

The University is seeking ideas from all students, staff and the community to help develop the ANU Below Zero strategy. This consultation is focussed on seven core themes:

  1. Leadership and targets
  2. Energy & buildings
  3. Travel
  4. Behaviour change
  5. Removing atmospheric greenhouse gas emissions
  6. Finance, investment & purchasing
  7. Integrating below zero operations with research & teaching

We invite you to participate in one or both of the following ways:

  1. Contribute your ideas and build on other ideas via our online idea capturing platform – this can take as little as 5 minutes.
  2. Join us to share and discuss your ideas at an online workshop – we’re holding a workshop on each of the themes listed above over the next 6 weeks.
