The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation promotes academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany. To this end, it grants more than 700 research fellowships and research prizes annually. These allow researchers from all over the world to come to Germany to work on a research question they have chosen themselves together with a host and collaborative partner. Once a Humboldtian, always a Humboldtian. - Even after the stay in Germany has come to an end, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation maintains ties with fellows and award winner. Alumni sponsorship opportunities provide flexible support for continued cooperation with existing or new partners in Germany or broader network activities.

There are a variety of opportunities with the Humboldt Foundation that researchers who are partnering with German researchers may be interested in. Please refer to the website for further details.

Opportunities can generally be applied for online throughout the year. Researchers can use the ‘Find the right programme’ filter on the Humboldt Foundation home page to determine which opportunities are most relevant to them and their work.
