Quantum Conformity, Mesmerising Maths and Laser Levitation
Every January budding physicists from around the country converge on Canberra to study at the ANU Physics Summer School – which makes the January pub night a highlight!
This year the theme is Spontaneous Coherence & Collective Phenomena In Quantum Systems, which will inspire a talk or two. But we also have levitating lasers and some mesmerising experiments for you to play with.
It’s our first outing to the new Kambri precinct at ANU, overlooking Sullivan’s creek with a cool beverage in your hand, what could be better? Please register now!
When: 6.30 PM 17th January 2020
Where: Badger and Co, Kambri, ANU Campus
How Much: Free! Thanks Physics @ ANU, but please register here!

THE LINE UP
Ruvi Lecamwasam (Physics ANU) has mastered the art of laser levitation
Maryam Boozarjmehr (Physics ANU) is going to tell us a story about nonlinear atoms – it’s just a quantum phase they are going through…
This spot vacant for you or a friend – contact Philuponscience@gmail if you have an idea!
Peter Nolan’s (Physics ANU) project to build and mathematically model complex pendulums will absolutely mesmerise you.
Phil Dooley (Phil Up On Science) not interested in what we know – he’s going to tell you all about a bunch of things we don’t know about.
Matt Davis (Physics, Uni of QLD) is bringing some simple experiments. But they will blow your mind.
A system is going to tell a story about V Vijendran (Physics, ANU) and quantum retrocausality
Rod Boswell (Physics ANU) presentations are powered by plasma thrusters. Who knows where that will take us?
