There are many hundreds of universities that host Physics researchers whose outstanding work contributes to the advancement of the knowledge frontiers and application domains of their discipline. ANU is undoubtedly one among them.

The presentation will look at bibliometric evidence about the “position” of ANU’s Physics research. It recognises that bibliometric studies are studies of human society, not studies of physical systems. Studies of society are fallible and sometimes used in ways that seem unfair, unreasonable or irrational. Nevertheless, public policy about research arises from these kinds of studies as do many of the rewards for research quality.

The discussion aims at clarification and insights that may help to inform plans to grow the School’s quality, status and resource base. We will ask:
