Dear Colleagues,

Thanks for sharing with your PhD and MPhil candidates that expressions of interest for our first Thesis Boot Camp of 2019 are now open. The expression of interest can be found here and closes on 15 February. RST will only be hosting two Boot Camps this year the next opportunity will be 8-10 November.

The program, facilitated by Associate Professor Inger Mewburn, the Thesis Whisperer and is free, accessible and open to candidates from all schools and colleges. There are limited places available for Thesis Boot Camps, and participants are selected on a needs basis. Thesis Boot Camp at ANU is proudly sponsored by the Postgraduate and Research Students' Association (PARSA).

Thesis Boot Camp supports candidates to complete a large amount of work on their thesis and develop productive writing habits in a single weekend. The concept of Thesis Boot Camp is disarmingly simple - put a group of people experiencing similar challenges in the same room for a weekend, feed them regularly with nutritious food and provide a reward for each 5,000 words written. An academic learning advisor and registered psychologist is available to assist candidates work through challenges, regular breaks for physical activity and social activities are encouraged. Many candidates write over 10,000 words on a Thesis Boot Camp weekend, and some even write up to 25,000 words!

Get in touch if you have any questions, we look forward to working with your candidates.

Warm wishes,

V
