Perpetual Ramaciotti Health Investment Grants - capped scheme
Perpetual
Awarded to individuals in universities, public hospitals or institutes for a contribution towards the undertaking of health or medical research with a potential path to clinical application within five years. A Health Investment Grant is intended to provide enabling research support for an autonomous early career investigator who is taking or has recently taken a substantive position.

Top 5 Under 40 UNSW/RN initiative
UNSW and ABC Radio National (RN)
Now in its third successful year, Top 5 Under 40 is a partnership between The University of New South Wales (UNSW) and ABC Radio National (RN). It involves a national callout to find the best early career researchers with a PhD under the age of 40, who work in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical research, and who have a flair and passion for communicating their vital work.

Experiment – in search of bold research ideas
VolkswagenStiftung – Volkswagen Foundation, DE
This initiative aims to support new research concepts in science, engineering, behavioural and life sciences, disregarding the project risk and perhaps the vagueness of a successful outcome. Approximately 15 exploratory projects will be granted per year, worth €100,000 each for a period of 18 months.

Horizon prize for CO2 reuse
Horizon 2020: Societal Challenges, EU
This rewards innovative products utilising CO2 that could significantly reduce the atmospheric emissions of CO2 when deployed at commercial scale. The prize is worth €1.5 million.
