73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting 2024 (Physics) - Applications Open

Tues 29 Aug 2023, 5pm -Complete ECR applications submitted to the local College Research Office (CRO).
Thurs 31 Aug 2023, 5pm - Complete HDR applications submitted to either: CoS/CHM via (hdr.shm@anu.edu.au), CECC via (studentservices.cybernetics@anu.edu.au; hdradmin.comp@anu.edu.au; or hdr.eng@anu.edu.au)
The endowment includes (subject to COVID-19 travel restrictions):
- an international return economy airfare from Australia to Germany (up to AUD4,000)
- registration fee to participate (including accommodation) in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (up to AUD4,000).
- All successful candidates are expected to attend the full program of events of the 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting. Prior to the meeting, delegates are expected to take part in a SIEF Research Innovation tour, visiting relevant laboratories and businesses in Germany starting on Monday 24 June and concluding on Friday 28 June 2024. Delegates will need to arrive in Lindau before the opening ceremony on Sunday 30 June and depart after the close of the program on Friday 05 July 2024.
- In addition, successful candidates are invited and expected to attend a virtual Lindau briefing organised by the Academy in May 2024 (date to be confirmed)

Applications are open to eligible Australian-based early career researchers, specifically:
- Applicants currently enrolled in a research higher degree* at an Australian University; and/or
- Applicants who have (1) undertaken a research higher degree* and the applicant’s most recent higher degree has been conferred for less than three years and are (2) working in an Australian university, Australian publicly-funded research organisation or research-focused institution.
- Applicants must be aged 35 years or younger at the time of the meeting, unless there is an exception for special cases (e.g. career interruption due to maternity leave).
- Applicants will not hold a permanent position (in particular professorships).
The above must be current at the date of the Lindau Meeting (30 June to 05 July 2024).
Please note that selection will favour applicants currently undertaking doctoral studies or postdoctoral fellowships.
*Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

- Recent publication list, including conference presentations (maximum two pages)
- Letter of recommendation from your academic supervisor or an internationally renowned scientist, which highlights achievements such as academic excellence, conference publications, tutoring experience, awards received, print/online publications, extracurricular activities and any other items of note specific to the applicant.
