Up to four pilot projects will be funded with up to $150,000 per project for projects scoped for 6-12 months, and require researchers from 2 DIN universities.

Please contact the College Research Office if you intend to apply.

Proposals are sought on four themes:

  1. New Advanced Materials for Helmet Systems
  2. Edge AI-enabled UAVs with minimal communication
  3. AI-designed Camouflage System
  4. Pathogen Detection

The NSW DIN universities are Macquarie, UNSW, University of Newcastle, University of Sydney, University of Wollongong, UTS, and Western Sydney University. If you have collaborators in those universities they could partner with you on a bid. The pilot projects are small but can open up bigger opportunities.

Application for the DIN Pilot Project grant is a one-stage process. Proposals should be submitted by the NSW university lead to info@defenceinnovationnetwork.com by COB, 25 May 2023.

All applicants are expected to communicate with the ANU coordinator (Julieanne.Dougherty@anu.edu.au, 0437 879, 748) to ensure clarity of the project objectives. DIN can make these introductions on request.
