ANU Publications Subsidy Fund round 2, 2016

This fund can provide ANU authors with financial assistance for the commercial publication of the results of academic research of staff members or students of the University that are unable (or unlikely to be able) to be published by an independent commercial publisher without financial assistance

Women in mathematics special interest group Cheryl E Praeger travel awards
Australian Mathematical Society, AU

These support Australian female mathematicians in attending conferences or to visit collaborators. The awards are worth up to AU$1,000 for a domestic trip and up to AU$3,000 for an international trip.

Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship Programme
Business.gov.au

This programme encourages women’s participation in STEM education and careers and in the broader innovation ecosystem focusing on entrepreneurial activities and careers. Grants from $5,000 - $250,000 per project will be provided for a maximum of 2 years.

Please note the Australian National University is limited to 1 applicant. CROs will assist with applications and ensure that the eligibility requirements are met.  Ensure RSD are aware of any potential applications by Friday, 16 September as there may be need for a ranking process. The appropriate documentation should be submitted as one PDF.

This supports research in nuclear medicine in Australia and New Zealand. The grant is worth up to AU$20,000 for a duration of approximately one year.

Global Innovation Linkages (GIL) programme Launched
Department of Industry, Innovation and Science

This programme was launched on 8th Aug by the minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, the Hon Greg Hunt MP. It will assist Australian business and researchers to collaborate with global partners on projects with a strategic focus on leading-edge research and development. Grants of up to AU$1 million per project will provided over a maximum of four years. Please register for Information sessions held between 22 Aug – 12 Sep 2016. Places are limited.

Experiment – in search of bold research ideas
VolkswagenStiftung – Volkswagen Foundation, DE

This initiative aims to support new research concepts in science, engineering, behavioural and life sciences, disregarding the project risk and perhaps the vagueness of a successful outcome. Approximately 15 exploratory projects will be granted per year, worth €100,000 each for a period of 18 months.

Horizon prize for CO2 reuse
Horizon 2020: Societal Challenges, EU

This rewards innovative products utilising CO2 that could significantly reduce the atmospheric emissions of CO2 when deployed at commercial scale. The prize is worth €1.5 million.
