Updates

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is an international competition for PhD candidates to highlight their research. Candidates present what their research is and why it is important in plain language for three minutes, with only a single PowerPoint slide.

ANU 3MT competition is virtual this year. Candidates have the chance to win $5,000 or $2,500 for a 3-minute video.

The 3MT provides the opportunity for PhD candidates to develop presentation skills that are crucial for a successful career post PhD, inside and outside of academia. We encourage you to support your candidates to be curious about the 3MT and developing their presentation skills. There is no expectation on them to compete after training; we are keen for everyone to develop their skills and confidence with presenting their research in unique ways. Please pass on these training opportunity to your candidates. It would be wonderful to continue in the ANU tradition of having a diverse range of candidates and research projects on our final stage.
