Director's Message
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you had a good weekend.
This week’s pic shows colleagues from NPAA hosting a visit by Professor Sebastian Schmidt, Director of the Helmholtz Centre in Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR). A Memorandum of Understanding between HZDR and ANU was signed at the Academy of Science by the DVC(RI) Prof Keith Nugent on Wednesday. This agreement will draw focus on the excellent collaboration between the two Accelerator Mass Spectrometry groups. (L to R: Tom McGoram, Kaitlin Cook, Stefan Pavetich, Steve Tims, Keith Fifield, Nanda Dasgupta, Jay Poria (CoS), Sebastian Schmidt and Anton Wallner (HZDR)).
Below, our Dean Prof Kiaran Kirk thanks another important visitor to our School last week, Prof Abhay Karandikar, Director of Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur. Prof Karandikar lead a delegation to ANU to investigate collaboration in electronic and photonic materials. I will let Heads of Department know more as this develops.
The EoI for Associate Director (Research) will close on Friday at 5pm. Please speak with your Head of Department if you are interested in applying.
I had the pleasure of walking around the new building with Oscar Capezio, Curator of the extensive ANU art collection. He’s got some exquisite works lined up for us. I can hardly wait.
Have a good week, Tim |
