Director's Message
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you had a relaxing weekend. To recap on some of the topics from the School Forum last week.
- It was the best ARC outcome on record, congratulations to the successful grantees this year. The ANU success rate was about 6% higher than the National average (22.4%), with the College of Science even higher at 30%. Our School achieved a record 44%, representing over $6.4 M in funding.
- A temporary surface carpark will be developed in the New Year mostly recovering the spaces lost in the building program.
- The funding for the complete building program is currently under review.
- The School Review will be with the University Executive shortly, and hopefully for public release in the next few weeks.
- College HR, Finance and Research teams will be spending time periodically in Physics South to allow a more personalised service. The video screens and Event Horizon will advertise when these sessions will happen.
- Please also note the changes in the ARC DP and DECRA and the requirement to have a sketch-outline of proposals before the end of this year.
This week’s pic was taken at the Applied Maths retreat down at the Kioloa Coastal Campus last week. Also see a recent article by Andrew Kingston on Ghost Tomography in Optica
Have great week,
Tim
