Biography

Dr John Holmes is an engineer with experience in testing, characterising, and simulating composite materials. He is a senior engineer at New Frontier Technologies for testing, modelling, and simulation and a visiting researcher at ANU Research School of Physics. During his PhD at ANU School of Engineering (2019-2022), he has developed specialised expertise and published in the fields of digital image and volume correlation analysis (DIC/DVC), mechanical testing methods, including the creation of novel testing techniques, and finite element analysis (FEA). The research on simulation includes micro-, meso- and macro-scale resolutions with a specialised focus on developing the capabilities needed for the production of digital material twins.
