Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

As a busy week closes I’d like to wish you a safe and relaxing Easter break, and leave you with a memory from this week when we celebrated H/Prof Brian Robson’s enduring gift to theoretical physics. We are indeed very fortunate to have all of our endowed gifts.  They span all parts of our community; staff and student travel, personal support and career development, and welcome many visitors to the School. Crucially, they provide continuity of our most valued characteristics and I thank all of our donors in helping our community to thrive at all times.

Keep safe, and good luck with all of that chocolate,

Tim

MSI Seminar - April 14

The Mathematical Data Science Centre seminar series
'An Overview of Scientific Machine Learning'
Diego Marcondes, Australian National University

Scientific Machine Learning (SciML) is an emerging research area that applies machine learning techniques to solve scientific computing problems, such as numerically solving forward and inverse problems associated with partial differential equations. In this accessible talk, we will present the main SciML techniques and discuss how they can be applied not only to problems in numerical analysis but also to statistical learning based on prior information.

Date: Mon 14 April 2025
Time:
1-2pm
