It’s a very full issue this week with a lot of good stuff happening here and overseas. Please take some time to scan down the announcements below, and I’ll draw your attention to a just few.
- There is a special excursion for the Women in Physics group to visit colleagues at RSAA on June 6th. This will be an excellent opportunity and I warmly encourage you to attend.
- The call to apply for the TOP 5 Science media residency is now open. This exciting program is co-sponsored by the ABC and ANU. Professor Jodie Bradby has the honour of being invited as program Ambassador and judge.
- Shown at the end of the issue is a selection of images from a CoS Delegation to India, which visited a dozen of India’s top universities over the past two weeks. This agile delegation, seen in the first image below (left to right) is comprised of Distinguished Professor Chennupati Jagadish (EME, left), Professor Sasha Mikheyev, CoS Associate Dean (International) and Jay Poria, CoS Manager International Development & Partnerships.

Student Urgent Relief Bursary (SURF)
The University is offering a Student Urgent Relief Bursary (SURF) with the intention to relieve students' financial burden and assist with extra costs caused by COVID or remote learning. There were very specific criteria for applying and a very small number of applications in 2021. The criteria for this bursary have been revised to include all students who are facing financial difficulties in 2022—not just related to COVID/remote learning. It is encouraged to review the conditions of this grant to see if you may be eligible for this financial support.
Additionally the School offers the Ben Williams Student Support Grant to assist RSPhys students who are experiencing personal difficulties which may be affecting their ability to study. » read more
