Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

Yesterday, the Australian Academy of Science launched a great new resource for Women in STEM. It was co-developed by the Australian Academy of Science, CSIRO, Science & Technology Australia, and the Australian Science Media Centre, with financial support from the Australian Government to provide careers resource for both experts and seekers. STEM Women offers opportunities for women to progress their career and personal capabilities such as opportunities to collaborate, conference and speaker invitations, committee and board requests and award nominations.

Over the next few weeks, the Chief Information Officer, Ms Karen Hill, will be asking for feedback on AV Services and End-user computing. While we manage most of the End-user experience within our School you may wish to provide general feedback on AV. Martin Conway will be collating our feedback once the process kicks off. Details to follow.

This week’s pics show the inaugural joint ANU MakerSpace and Fifty50 workshop to welcome first year students to MakerSpace. Fifty50 is a student founded and led STEM equity society. This workshop helped students to design and stitch/solder wearable circuits. My thanks go to Saskia Morris for masterminding this event, and running it together with her MakerSpace colleagues Jordan and Afzal (see below).

Have a good week,

Tim
