Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

Our thoughts go out to Josephine Ivanic and her family on the sad loss of Drago, Jo’s husband.  Flowers have been sent to the family and a condolences card will be available at the front desk for your messages.

My thanks go to all those who contributed so much to first semester teaching. It was a huge effort and the School is very grateful. We are still critically short on contributions for next semester, and in particular for 2019.  As there is now a requirement that all academic staff will contribute to the education program please contact Professor Joe Hope to register your intent.  There are many tasks to choose from, including tutoring, curriculum review and design.

To align our School structure better with College nomenclature, the title of Deputy Director has been replaced by Associate Director.  This will also incorporate the role of HDR Convenor held by A/Professor Lan Fu, now Associate Director (HDR).

Market Day is to be held on August 14th in Physics South.  Please update your projects for this year.  While doing this, could you please ensure your Insight details are correct.

This week’s pic captures a moment in the admin team, with Michael Blacksell wearing a tie!! Michael will be acting School Manger for the next 3 weeks.

Stay warm, have a good week.

Tim

“Prickly Women” -- the women who don’t let things go, who stand up for themselves and others, and who question the status-quo of structural inequities and outdated institutional practices. They stick out decidedly among the “bro-hood” of academic administration. They have exactly the kind of insight and persistence that higher education needs today.
