Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you had an enjoyable Reconciliation Day yesterday.

We have a School Forum this week and key items are to introduce our builders, Hindmarsh, and to discuss the decanting process.  If you have other topics you would like raised please notify your representatives or contact Sue.

This week’s pic was taken at the Australian Launch Party for Grace Follow-on mission, Wednesday 23rd May 0530 (AEST), on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket (inset).  A/Professor Paul Tregoning (RSES, shown left next to Professor Kiaran Kirk) organised the early morning event where he and Professor Daniel Shaddock (DQS/Liquid Instruments) presented the highlights of their first mission, Grace, and their contributions to the follow-on mission (https://gracefo.jpl.nasa.gov/).  Daniel reflected on the origins of Liquid Instruments in technologies developed for first Grace mission. It’s a great story of research translation. Almost a week on and all is on track for Grace-FO.

Have a good (short) week,

Tim
