Call for Participants – RSPE 3 Minute Thesis Competition 2017

The ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering invites you to register as a participant for the School heat of the 2017 Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition.


The 3MT is an academic competition that challenges PhD students to describe their research in plain language within three minutes to a general audience, with only a single PowerPoint slide. 3MT celebrates the discoveries made by research students and encourages their skill in communicating the importance of research to the broader community.


Thursday, 3 August 2017, 11.00am

The School heat will be followed by the College 3MT heat at 2pm on 14 August 2017 ready for the ANU 3MT final on 6 September 2017


Finkel Theatre, Building 131, John Curtin School of Medical Research, 131 Garran Road

  • RSPE heat by Tuesday 1 August 2017 to RSPE Student Admin
  • College heat by Friday 4 August 2017 to College Student Admin

In regard to prizes on offer, RSPE awards up to $200, ANU College awards up to $1,000 as research support grant and up to $4,000 on offer for ANU final 3MT. The winner of the ANU 3MT final will go on to compete in the Asia Pacific final, held at the University of Queensland.


3MT Competition Practice - Physics in the Pub

If you'd like a practice run there are slots for to 3MT participants at Physics in the Pub on Tues 1 August at Smiths Alternative Bookshop
