The Physics Education Centre (PEC) will be holding its annual Planning Day on Thursday 15 September up at Mt Stromlo (9am to 5pm).  This is a day for the entire School to engage around our teaching program. So famous is this annual event that other Schools send representatives!

Topics that will be covered:

  • The final form of the new physics program, and its shift to the implementation phase.
  • Engagement with China
  • The new “Applied Physics” major (initially targeted at Chinese students, but available for all)
  • Gender and Equity issues in teaching
  • New teaching spaces and the maker space
  • The new physics minor courses, aimed at a university-wide audience

Physics takes its role as an enabling science very seriously, and the new program should offer more opportunities for supporting students majoring in other disciplines.

If you would like to come, or send a representative from your area, please RSVP to Laura Walmsley by Friday 9 September (for catering purposes – please advise of any special dietary requirements).
