Fast entangling gates for scalable trapped ion quantum computing

Mr Alexander Ratcliffe
Department of Quantum Science, RSPE, ANU

Trapped ions are one of the most promising platforms for quantum computing. Current trapped ion proposals are limited by a lack of fast entangling gates for scalable architectures. I discuss the present state of trapped ion quantum computing and demonstrate how “fast-gates” can be used in scalable architectures. This brings us one step closer to scalable quantum computing by providing entangling gates with sufficient speed and fidelity.
