What is the 'quantum'? Is nature fundamentally uncertain? Can a cat in a box be both alive and dead at the same time? Is an electron in two places at once? What is 'spooky' action-at-a-distance? This lecture will consider what quantum science tells us about the world and how we might interpret some of its more weird implications.

Dr Peter J. Riggs is a physicist and philosopher of science in the Department of Quantum Science at The Australian National University. He is a leading Australian researcher on the foundations and interpretation of physics. Dr. Riggs is the author of Quantum Causality: Conceptual Issues in the Causal Theory of Quantum Mechanics (Kluwer Publications, 2009).
