Dear Colleagues,

It is my very great pleasure to congratulate our colleagues gaining promotion this year;

Simon Haine (QST)
Sean Hodgman (QST)
Sergey Kruk (FTP)
AJ Mitchel (NPAA)

Level D

The Level E promotion round is still in progress.

This week’s pic shows Alex Shanahan from the Technical Workshops holding an almost completed 1200-mm long piece of aluminium for a new light-ion (L-ION) detector system, designed by Ben Tranter (NPAA). The detector chamber was milled during the COVID shutdown and will be used for a new research program at HIAF to study the structure and properties of nuclei.

With the easing of restrictions please remember to wear your mask when working at the School, unless it interferes with the equipment you’re using. I’m hoping to have some guidance about travel in the next few days, which I will share with your Heads.

Have a good week,
Tim
