Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you had a relaxing weekend.  Starting the week with a laugh, Distinguished Professor Chennupati Jagadish, shares a joke with Emeritus Professor Hans Bachor (photographer).  A nice portrait of Jagadish and his collaborative work in Physics was shown on SBS News a few weeks ago.

Dr Vincent Daria has just field-tested his new Level 2 laser safety course.  Vincent customised it specifically for the type of laser activities found in our labs and has been reviewed by ARPANSA. The course will become a compulsory part of laser training in the School. My thanks to Vincent for putting this excellent course together. Details of the course will be posted on the Physics WHS page shortly.

Later today the schedule for the Change Implementation Plan will go up on the intranet. It will be periodically updated with changes noted in the Event Horizon. Please feel free to send me or James comments and suggestions at it evolves.

I would like to thank Professor Patrick Kluth for Acting last week.

Sue Wigley (below) sends her best regards from a winter wonderland in Birmingham, and is now a very proud Grandmother.

Cheers,
Tim
