To lead us into the new week is one of our familiar School guardians, reminding us the place will be well cared for in our absence. My thanks to Murdock Grewar (Applied Maths) for sending in this beautifully shot image taken last week on campus. Apart from the possums, my sincere thanks go to the few staff permitted to maintain our vital infrastructure over the next few months. Their names will be posted in the Infrastructure Portfolio over the next few days (see below).
Ok, hand on heart, I promise not to send any more long emails over the next 3 months! However, if you’ve not yet done so please scan over the Wednesday and Friday whole-school emails. They will help you understand why we are establishing the Portfolio sections in the new look Event Horizon.
Over the next few weeks the Heads, Executive and I will be identifying a “community chest”. This pool of funds will be aggregated from budget lines that, given the current environment, will not be accessed and will be available to assist with case-by-case relief of some of your most pressing concerns. We are grateful to the VC for his generous pledge of support in many forms and it is clear that our local solutions will also play a big part. As we all find a new equilibrium, please use the Portfolios to assist you. The Equity and Diversity section is now front and centre, and will span the Portfolios.
I couldn’t leave without adding a second weekly pic. Professor Ben Buchler (Acting Head DQS), a self-declared chicken herder, introduces the family Plymouth Rock and her flock. It’s a lovely image from one of our many new offices.
Enjoy the week and if you have any questions please flick them to our Portfolio teams, or look at the ANU home page.
