Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

A wintery weekend, with a light dusting of snow on high ranges.

Just a few notes for this week. Firstly, please refer to my email last Friday for information on the promotion process this year.  I would be pleased to discuss this with anyone intending to apply this round.

Please keep an eye out over the next for weeks for notice about password renewals.  Finally, applications for the Associate Director (Infrastructure) close tomorrow.

The above image was captured this morning at 7:45 - see the live feed.

Have a great week,

Tim

Equity and Diversity

When it comes to diversity in science, the data paint a consistently depressing picture. Two articles, published this week in Nature Reviews Chemistry and Nature Reviews Physics, collate statistics on women in the academic chemistry and physics communities around the world, and look at how these data can guide interventions. But data alone are not going to deliver change. What matters more is to act on them.
